Mozart - Hummel - Beethoven

Johann Nepomuk Hummel, whose music represents the transition from classicism to romanticism, was one of the most acclaimed pianists of his time. In addition to an extensive collection of his own compositions, Hummel wrote various arrangements of existing orchestral works for chamber music, such as the piano concertos of his teacher Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or the symphonies of his friend Ludwig van Beethoven. The Romanian pianist Aurelia Visovan, first laureate of MA Competition 2019, will release her long-awaited CD Mozart - Hummel - Beethoven on September 11th. The fascinating program includes Hummel's own Piano Sonata in F minor, op. 20, his arrangements for flute, piano, violin and cello of Mozart's Piano Concerto in C and Beethoven's First Symphony in C. The CD is the result of a collaboration between Outhere Music and MA Competition.

Your Window into Early Music

After months of isolation, we are able, step by step, to leave our quarantine bubble. We are also extremely happy to be bringing live music to you once again this summer. From 1 to 9 August, MA Festival presents ‘Your Window into Early Music’, a corona-free festival combining live and virtual concerts.

MA Festival: Work in progress

Over the last months we have often wondered how the concerts of our Mind/Body/Passion programme would sound. We will have to live without your teeming presence and enthusiastic applause for a little while longer.

But the MA team don’t give up that easily. Right now we are working on a new way to bring this summer’s MA Festival to you. Very soon we will be revealing a little more. Stay tuned!

Update: MA Festival 2020

For the first time in 57 years, MA Festival Bruges will not be taking place this summer. The MA Competition for melodic instruments and the MA Academy with the Juilliard School are also postponed. We regret this of course, but public health is now of paramount importance. The safety of the numerous (international) musicians, festival visitors, Friends, patrons, partners and staff must take priority.

We are closely monitoring the situation and working on scenarios for the resumption of activities, just as soon as this will be possible.

We are already looking ahead to better days.

Take care, stay safe.
