Harpsichordist Jean Rondeau explores different aspects of the Dance of Death tradition. We hear pavanes by Tomkins and Johnson alongside an adaptation of Dowlands Lachrimae. Rondeau also plays Froberger’s tombeau for the death of lutenist Monsieur Blancrocher, Brahms’s piano transcription of Bach’s legendary violin chaconne, and Ligeti’s Passacaglia Ungherese.
