Where lies the bound­ary between life and death? What is flour­ish­ing and what is slow­ly fad­ing into obliv­ion? Ensemble Gamut! present an intox­i­cat­ing bou­quet of flo­ral­ly-inspired medi­ae­val songs, com­bin­ing these with Aino Peltomaa’s own texts and com­po­si­tions about the endan­gered flow­ers of the Arctic. The ensem­ble use voice, harp, bells, Karelian bowed lyres, medi­ae­val recorders and elec­tron­ic tex­tures to weave togeth­er, among oth­er things, Brigettine chants, the pro­found and vir­tu­oso works of Hildegard von Bingen, folk tunes and exu­ber­ant improvisations.
