French Ensemble Théodora invite us to relive Holy Week, as it was cel­e­brat­ed in the ear­ly 18^th cen­tu­ry. In the inti­mate set­ting of the Chamber Music Hall, gam­bist, harp­si­chordist, vio­lin­ist and sopra­no per­form a pro­gramme that brings togeth­er German sacred can­tatas and French Leçons de Ténèbres. The trio sonatas of German organ­ist-com­pos­er Dietrich Buxtehude and French harp­si­chordist-com­pos­er Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre are jux­ta­posed. In Georg Böhm’s key­board vari­a­tions on ​‘Wer nur den lieben Gott läßt wal­ten’, French and German aes­thet­ics are even brought togeth­er in a sin­gle work.
