MA Academy is a new biennial initiative in collaboration with B’Rock, Il Gardellino and Concertgebouw Brugge and offers young musicians the opportunity to work under the inspiring leadership of Bertrand Cuiller. The participants are supported and guided by top coaches from B’Rock Orchestra and Il Gardellino, such as Jan De Winne, Marcel Ponseele, Rebecca Rosen and Evgeny Sviridov. The workshop will be concluded with a concert in Concertgebouw Brugge aspart of the MA Festival programme.

Initially Rameau was known primarily as a philosopher thanks to his scientific approach to music. So when he presented his operas, he did not receive a particularly warm reception from les Parisiens. The public did not expect him to be able to write such delightful music. Nothing proved further from the truth! He garnered his first successes as an opera composer with Hippolyte et Aricie, Les Indes Galantes, and his masterpiece Castor et Pollux
