“When MA Festival asked me to put togeth­er a pro­gramme on the theme of free­dom, I thought of reper­toire relat­ed to the quest for free­dom in 18^th-cen­tu­ry France, such as Balbastre’s Marche des Marseillois. This is how I arrived at this pro­gramme, root­ed in the French reper­toire of the late 17^th cen­tu­ry and extend­ing across the 18^th cen­tu­ry to the French Revolution.”
