La Néréide
Luzzaschi, Caccini & Monteverdi

In this concert, La Néréide take us back to 16th century Italy and the ducal court of Alfonso Il d’Este. That renowned patron of the arts presented an exclusive concert for a select audience, featuring famous sopranos Laura Peverara, Anna Guarini and Livia d’Arco. Their beautiful voices and unparalleled musical talent inspired composers from every corner of Italy, including d’Este’s own court organist Luzzasco Luzzaschi. After hearing their beautiful singing, Luzzaschi composed a collection of madrigals that surpassed any madrigals previously written. Together, La Néréide’s three sopranos bring this exceptional collection of music for equal voices to its full glory.
Music by Luzzasco Luzzaschi (1545−1607), Francesca Caccini (1587−1640), Claudio Monteverdi (1567−1643) etc.
