In this con­cert, La Néréide take us back to 16^th cen­tu­ry Italy and the ducal court of Alfonso Il d’Este. That renowned patron of the arts pre­sent­ed an exclu­sive con­cert for a select audi­ence, fea­tur­ing famous sopra­nos Laura Peverara, Anna Guarini and Livia d’Arco. Their beau­ti­ful voic­es and unpar­al­leled musi­cal tal­ent inspired com­posers from every cor­ner of Italy, includ­ing d’Este’s own court organ­ist Luzzasco Luzzaschi. After hear­ing their beau­ti­ful singing, Luzzaschi com­posed a col­lec­tion of madri­gals that sur­passed any madri­gals pre­vi­ous­ly writ­ten. Together, La Néréide’s three sopra­nos bring this excep­tion­al col­lec­tion of music for equal voic­es to its full glory.
