The French harp­si­chordist Béatrice Martin – com­pe­ti­tion lau­re­ate and jury mem­ber – presents a musi­cal pedi­gree of key­board art at the court of Louis XIV. That tra­di­tion is root­ed in the style brisé, an ornate style, equal­ly vir­tuot­ic and sub­tle, that would inspire gen­er­a­tions of com­posers, from Chambonnières to François Couperin le Grand’.
