A man and a woman with life expe­ri­ence and a flut­ter­ing young boy speak in a lan­guage that moves freely between Italian and Flemish, opera and the­atre. With just a few props, they con­struct the coun­try estate of a count and a count­ess, their ser­vants and rel­a­tives. The count wants to spend the night with the maid­ser­vant and imag­ines him­self her brand-new bride­groom. The count­ess dress­es up as the maid to breathe new life into her mar­riage. The enam­oured Cherubino, who has his eye on the count­ess, also dis­guis­es him­self and hides in order to be close to her. Everyone dress­es up as some­one else.
