Punto in Aria
Dreaming and navigating between reality and imagination

Lacework, diaphanous threads shape the void. The absence of material creates beauty. Also the character ‘ma’ is consciously deployed in Japanese music as a silence between two notes or sounds. In this new programme, IMAGO MUNDI affords a central role to song lyrics about ‘sleep’. As we slumber, we surrender to the void and navigate between dream and reality, day and night, life and death.
The new composition by Heleen Van Haegenborgh is the gossamer thread that renders the pattern in the lacework visible. IMAGO MUNDI weaves the sounds together with lute and percussion.
Early, less early and new music by John Dowland (1563−1626), Johannes Ciconia (1370−1412), John Milton Cage (1912−1992) and
Heleen Van Haeghenborgh (1980)
