On this last Sunday of the MA Festival, the ver­sa­tile Giovanna Baviera breathes new life into the time-hon­oured prac­tice of can­tar alla vio­la: singing while play­ing the vio­la da gam­ba. In the his­toric Schuur Ter Doest, Baviera effort­less­ly brings togeth­er the roles of singer, gam­bist and accom­pa­nist, in a pro­gramme that ranges from the poly­phon­ic chan­sons of Sandrin and Arcadelt, to monodies by Caccini, to works by Eva Reiter, com­posed espe­cial­ly for this concert.
