Voces Suaves
Schein, Schütz & Scheidt

Are they madrigals, motets or something entirely new? The religious works in Thomaskantor Johann Hermann Schein’s Israelsbrünnlein have fascinated for centuries. These powerful texts are interwoven with the German vocal music of Heinrich Schütz and Samuel Scheidt. The composers combine the innovative features of the Italian madrigal with Renaissance polyphony. For the Swiss ensemble Voces Suaves, German-speaking but specialised in Italian madrigals, this unique repertoire is ideal.
Music by Johann Hermann Schein (1586−1630), Heinrich Scheidemann (1595−1663) & Heinrich Schütz (1585−1672)
