Baroque Venice turned upside down each year dur­ing the weeks-long, unbri­dled fes­ti­val of car­ni­val, when rich and poor believed them­selves incog­ni­to behind their masks. By inti­mate can­dle­light, Le Poème Harmonique brings the Venetian car­ni­val to life with mime, humour and music from Claudio Monteverdi to Benedetto Ferrari and the shad­owy Il Fasolo.
