In her Livre de la Cité des Dames, Christine de Pizan (1364-ca. 1430) pictures a utopian city, populated by women. In passing she sings the praise of illustrious personae such as Ariadne, Dido, and the Virgin, who also figured in diaphanous chansons and motets by Da Bologna, Dufay and other late medieval composers. La Fonte Musica brings homage to this first ever feminist’.
