On paper, William Lawes and John Jenkins seemed like oil and water. While the first asserted himself as the iconoclast of the 17th century consort repertoire, the second remained a traditionalist all his life. Yet, the duo shares a gift for lyricism and an unfailing sense of tonal organisation. A double portrait by the Hathor Consort.
