Illustrations of the danse macabre por­tray a musi­cal anti-world. The music mak­ing skele­tons have a pref­er­ence for loud or ​‘demon­ic’ instru­ments such as trum­pets, flutes, bag­pipes and per­cus­sion instru­ments. François Lazarevitch and Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien ded­i­cate a pro­gramme to these instru­ments, with poly­phon­ic danseries from the 14^th to the 16^th Century.
